Letter From the Editor

Dear Pediatric Pain Letter readership,

It has been my great pleasure to serve as the Editor of the Pediatric Pain Letter since 2014. This issue marks my final issue in that role. I am delighted to turn the reins over to Abbie Jordan, PhD, of the University of Bath, UK, who has been a steadfast and uber-competent Associate Editor for over a decade.

As we have moved toward this leadership change we have contemplated how to update PPL and what to retain of its original form and mission. We remain committed to keeping PPL a freely available, open-access publication that provides opportunities for clinicians and researchers of all levels of training and career status, as well as other nonacademic voices, to share their work and their viewpoints on a wide range of issues related to pediatric pain. With Abbie’s assistance (well honestly, with her lead), we have taken recent steps to move PPL more solidly into the modern era, moving the publication and all its back issues to a much more stable and functional website platform and updating the publication process.

As I step down from this post I want to express my appreciation to Kelly Hayton, longtime PPL editorial assistant, without whom I would never have figured out how to keep the publication going, and to Kelly Smith, who has now established herself as a similarly indispensable editorial assistant. And I cannot pass the baton without acknowledging my phenomenal editorial predecessor Carl vonBaeyer, PhD, who helped to forge the partnership between PPL and the Pain in Childhood SIG of IASP, and the esteemed duo of Patrick McGrath PhD and Allen Finley MD, who founded the publication in 1996. I am honored to stand among these formidable figures in the field of pediatric pain. And finally, I am grateful to you all for your continued readership and contributions. I look forward to seeing PPL continue to thrive and grow with the guidance of the new editorial team.

Yours sincerely,

Deirdre Logan PhD
